Michael Joseph Harris
has been playing and performing guitar since the age of 12. He first won recognition in Chantilly High School, winning awards as guitarist for Downbeat Magazine's #1 Big Band. He studied Jazz guitar with Rick Whitehead of the Airmen of Note, then later at North Texas State University under the great Jack Petersen. Harris subsequently began performing non-stop as the leader of his own group Bossalingo and as a free lance guitarist in the DC club scene. He has also performed in theater productions such as Slam! and Next To Normal, and with Taylor McFerrin as bassist for the Immaculate Contraption European tour. On his latest release Steps Beyond, Harris turns his attention to his first love, performing original music.
